About Perth Motorplex
Since opening its gates in 2000, the Perth Motorplex has established itself as the premier motorsport destination in Western Australia. Located in Kwinana Beach, just south of the Perth CBD, this world-class facility was designed to replace the aging Ravenswood Raceway and the historic Claremont Speedway. It serves as a dual-purpose venue, catering to both straight-line speed demons and those who prefer the high-octane slide of dirt track racing. The venue is perhaps most famous for its international-standard quarter-mile drag strip, which hosts some of the biggest events in the Australian Top Fuel and Doorslammer calendars, such as the prestigious Westernationals. Adjacent to the strip lies the speedway, a 430-meter clay oval that draws massive crowds for Sprintcars, Speedcars, and Late Models. The stadium-style seating offers spectators an incredible view of the action, whether it is the smell of nitro on the drag strip or the spray of clay in the speedway. Beyond the professional racing series, the Perth Motorplex is a hub for the local community, hosting regular Whoop Ass Wednesdays for street-legal cars, burnout competitions, and major automotive shows. Its state-of-the-art lighting system makes it one of the best night-racing venues in the Southern Hemisphere, providing an electric atmosphere that keeps fans coming back season after season.
Getting There
The Perth Motorplex is conveniently located on Anketell Road in Kwinana Beach. For those travelling from the Perth CBD, it is approximately a 30-minute drive heading south via the Kwinana Freeway. Take the Anketell Road exit and follow the signs towards the coast; the venue's entrance is well-signposted and easy to locate. There is extensive on-site parking available for both general spectators and competitors. During major events, dedicated traffic management is usually in place to ensure smooth entry and exit. It is recommended to arrive early for marquee events like the Westernationals to secure a spot closer to the main gates.
