The Townsville Street Circuit, also known as the Reid Park Street Circuit, is one of the most distinctive stops on the Australian motorsport calendar. Debuting in 2009, this hybrid track winds through the lush greenery of Reid Park and incorporates public roads in the Railway Estate area near the Townsville CBD. Its layout is a unique 2.86-kilometre loop that challenges drivers with a mix of high-speed sweeps and heavy braking zones, requiring a delicate balance between aggressive kerb-hopping and precision steering. Since its inception, the circuit has become synonymous with the Supercars Championship, hosting the annual Townsville 500. The event is famous for its punishing tropical conditions; the combination of high northern Queensland humidity and mid-winter heat tests the physical endurance of the drivers and the cooling systems of the cars. Despite the heat, the atmosphere is electric, as the venue transforms into a massive festival precinct complete with concerts, food stalls, and parkland viewing areas that provide some of the best spectator sightlines in the country. What makes the Townsville Street Circuit truly special is its dual personality. For most of the year, Reid Park is a quiet community space, but during race week, it becomes a high-octane battleground. The concrete canyons formed by the temporary barriers leave little room for error, leading to frequent safety cars and dramatic finishes. With a long history of championship-defining moments, the circuit remains a fan favorite and a crown jewel for motorsport in regional Queensland.

The circuit is located just south of the Townsville CBD, making it easily accessible for those staying in the city. Many spectators choose to walk across the Victoria Bridge or take the short stroll from the Railway Estate. During major race weekends, dedicated shuttle buses typically run from various points around the city, including the ferry terminal and major shopping centers. Parking is extremely limited in the immediate vicinity of Reid Park due to road closures. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport or park in the city and walk. If driving, limited street parking can be found in the surrounding suburbs, but strict event-day parking restrictions are usually in place to protect local residents.
