Avalon Raceway, famously known as "The Place for Pace," is a premier dirt track speedway located in Lara, Victoria. Since its opening in 1976 by the Drew family, the venue has solidified its reputation as one of Australia's most exciting motorsport hubs. The track features a 390-metre clay oval with significant banking, designed specifically to promote high-speed maneuvers and intense wheel-to-wheel competition. The venue is a regular host to some of the biggest dates on the Australian speedway calendar, including the prestigious Presidents Cup and rounds of the World Series Sprintcars. These events often feature a mix of local legends and international drivers from the American circuit, creating a world-class spectacle for fans. Beyond Sprintcars, the raceway frequently showcases Speedcars, Street Stocks, and V8 Dirt Modifieds, ensuring a diverse program throughout the summer season. What truly defines Avalon is the electric atmosphere and the quality of the racing surface. The track is meticulously maintained to provide multiple racing lines, which encourages overtaking and keeps the crowd on the edge of their seats. With its expansive grass banks and grandstand seating, it offers a classic speedway experience that caters to both die-hard petrolheads and families looking for an evening of fast-paced entertainment.

The raceway is conveniently located on Old Melbourne Road in Lara, situated right near the Avalon Airport exit off the Princes Freeway (M1). For those coming from Melbourne, it is an easy 45-minute drive heading south-west, while visitors from Geelong can reach the track in about 15 minutes. Ample free parking is available on-site for all spectators. Given its location adjacent to the freeway, the venue is highly visible and straightforward to find. It is recommended to arrive early for major events like the Presidents Cup to secure the best vantage point on the grass embankments.
